When looking at these I had noticed a few reviews that stated these would not work well in MDF. This is not true. I had to test drill several holes in a test piece, but found the perfect size for them. Once I determined the proper size and drilled the holes in the grill, I had to press them in with pliers. They fit perfect and show no signs of pulling out. I used them for an in wall sub woofer grill cover and they are holding great.
